Warriors and Rams to tussle it out in game one of Legends triple thriller

It’s been a topsy turvy 2019 for the DusuPay Warriors; a couple of losses here and there with some wins in between that has seen them slip from 2nd to 4th place. They welcome the MRI Rams to Legends rugby club in an unusually early game at 12:30 pm in what is bound to be a three match thriller at the same venue – Rams and Warriors share a fond history all the way from their time in the championship when the Warriors still branded themselves as Summerkamp.

Rams haven’t had the best of seasons but will back themselves in this tie simply because they know the opponent well and testament goes back to the first round when Warriors had to struggle for the bonus point win in Makerere.

Warriors have lost some steam in defense, a trait that had made them impenetrable and allowed them to capitalize on opponents and claim victory. A narrow win in Jinja wasn’t short of nail biting moments with a 22-13 lead lost – Warriors managed to edge the Hippos closely by 25-24. Coach Ivan Makmot will be pondering what remedy he needs to help revive the performances the boys exhibited in round one.

The fact that the game will be played at midday portrays likeliness of scorching sunshine if weather trends are anything to go by – the level of fatigue and fitness will come into play with the team that can get their second wind quicker in the heat, being the more likely to bag victory (unless it rains, then we shall have a whole different predicament altogether).

After a series of losses, Rams bagged an emphatic win against the Barbarians of Walukuba 48-03 to give them some sense of rejuvenation going forward as they aim to hop above Rhinos and secure their place in the league for the next season.

Rams look to employ a tireless short ball strategy that will majorly center around the midfield with a persistent kicking game to compliment their style and ensure that they play in the right territory. Warriors on the other hand will be looking to keep the game very structured using the set piece as a weapon to put Rams on the back foot before releasing their outside backs to do the job for them.

The set piece will be key for the Warriors
