Vipers Sign Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza On Free Transfer


Uganda Premier League reigning Champions SC Vipers have completed the acquisition of top striker Diego ‘Hamis’ Kiiza.

The Club confirmed the development via their official website:

Vipers Sports Club completed the signing of striker Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza for six months subject to an extension,” reads an excerpt on the web.

Diego who has been training with Vipers for the last two weeks, joins on a free transfer from Ethiopia’s Fasil Kenema FC.

Diego is another big addition to the Venoms’ front line that was already boosted with Kenya’s Innocent Wafula in this same window.

Beside Wafula, Diego joins an attacking line that has Tito Okello, Mzee Dan Sserunkuma, Abraham Ndugwa and Steven Mukwala among others.

His main task as expected is to score goals and get involved in team’s attacks as the club will be pursuing to defend their league title.

The Kitende based side, trail leaders KCCA FC by three points ahead of their visits to Mbarara to face Nyamityobora at Kakyeka on Tuesday.

Vipers have managed to score only three goals in their last four goals.

The Striker started his professional career with Nalubaale FC in 2007 before joining URA two years later. He had stints with Tanzanian clubs Yanga and Simba and later joined South Africa’s Free State Stars.

He returned to Uganda in 2017 with URA and crossed to Sudan’s El Hilal in the same year. He later transferred to Ethiopia’s Fasil Kenema in March 2018.
