Africa’s rugby governing body, Rugby Afrique, and official rugby partners APO Group, reported on Friday afternoon that the Victoria Cup would return in late June.
The revived Victoria Cup would serve as a replacement for the void left by the cancellation of Gold Cup, which happened after main sponsor Kwese Sports pulled out unexpectedly.
The Victoria Cup was originally between Uganda, Kenya and Zimbabwe but this year would see the addition of Zambia.
The Victoria Cup schedule would be starting on Saturday, 22nd June 2019 with the Elgon Cup clash between Kenya and Uganda, with the return leg happening on 13th July at Kyadondo rugby grounds. Uganda Rugby Union is yet to release an official communication about the competition by press time.
