Friday, February 1
Vipers 1-0 Kirinya Jinja

Vipers marked the new month with victory over Kirinya Jinja SS in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Vipers, after struggling in January where they managed just two wins, held on to edge Kirinya Jinja 1-0 in a game they finished a man down.

Tito Okello scored in the 39th minute when he got behind the visitors defence to tap home Ndugwa’s lay off.

Vipers were full value for their win, with Mzee Dan Sserunkuma and Tito Okello both going close when the game was goalless.

The visitors were not much of a force in attack and barely roused their supporters even when Fred Amaku was brought on in the second stanza.

There was late drama when Vipers’ Innocent Wafula received a booking for head butting Isma Muwawulo, an offence which many thought that it required a red.

Later on in the added minutes, Vipers’ right back Ibrahim Kiyemba was sent off, receiving his second bookable for time wasting.

The Victory sends Vipers to three points behind leaders KCCA FC on the 16 team log – Vipers have now collected 34 points, second, behind top placed KCCA on 37.

What next for both sides?

Vipers will male along trip to Mbarara to face Nyamityobora on Tuesday at Kakyeka Stadium.

Kirinya will be at home – Mighty Arena – to welcome visitors Tooro United FC.
