UPL: Lutimba, Wafula Back As Vipers Visit URA

Friday, January 25
URA FC Vs SC Vipers, 4:00 PM

SC Vipers will welcome back Yayo Lutimba and Innocent Wafula as the club take on URA FC in StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The duo missed the club’s CAF Confederation Cup game against CS Sfaxien in Tunisia where the side lost 3-0 to bow out.

Lutimba was suspended after accumulating two yellow cards at the continent while Wafula was ineligible to play at the continent.

Lutimba is expected to start at left back ahead of Aggrey Madoi, who the club confirmed recently that his contract will not be renewed.

Wafula who played against Onduparaka is expected to reprise his role in the front line. Goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya remains a long term absentee, the club has confirmed.

Vipers Seek To Close Gap Atop

After their elimination from the continent, SC Vipers turn focus on domestic encounters.

This is one of the two remaining games to end the first round – Vipers Vs Mbarara this Sunday at Kitende is the other tie.

No room for errors as Vipers will go all out to close the gap from runaway leaders KCCA – Mike Mutebi’s charges lead the log with 36 points, seven ahead of Vipers in second.

The Stats

Vipers are still the only unbeaten team in the season – won eight and drawn five.

Their unbeaten run in the league overall has totalled to 30 games. The last time they lost in the league was against URA FC on November 28, 2017 and that’s when they lost their unbeaten run at Kitende.
