Bright Stars 0-0 KCCA FC
(Champions Stadium, Mwererwe)
KCCA FC Assistant coach Morley Byekwaso was delighted with the players performance not the result as his side shared spoils with Bright Stars.
KCCA FC were held to a goalless draw by Bright Stars in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played on Saturday in Matugga.
Despite being the favourites to take maximum points, KCCA’s Byekwaso spared some time to praise his players after dropping two points on the road.
I am a bit happy not for the result but for the strength and efforts which the players have put. The boys showed good character today and we played well as a team.
Despite the fact that we haven’t won, I appreciate the point we have got and we are looking forward to maintain our lead at the top.”
The visitors were good value for the result and had some good chances to win the match but could not find a way through. KCCA FC midfielder Nicholas Kasozi was named the Man of the match.
KCCA FC had won the reverse fixture 2-0 in Lugogo in the first round, a result that ended Bright Stars unbeaten run. Filbert Obenchan and Patrick Kaddu scored the goals for KCCA.
The point came at a good time for KCCA who saw their title competitors Vipers lose to Villa at home.
There is nolonger a weak team, everyone is fighting so hard.
We are happy that our competitor has dropped some points which will give us a good vision and strength to work hard in the future.”
KCCA remain on top of the log with 41 points, four above second placed Vipers. The garbage collectors have won 12, drawn five and lost once.
Bright Stars are ninth on the 16 team log, at least before Express play BUL. The side have collected 23 points and are yet to win in nine league games since beating Paidha in Arua in December 1 last year.
Next for in the league KCCA is a home game against BUL FC on February 12 at StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo before facing Police FC.
