UPL: Halid Lwaliwa Back As Vipers Seek Redemption

Friday, February 1
SC Vipers Vs Kirinya Jinja SS, 4:00 PM
(St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende)

SC Vipers will welcome back Halid Lwaliwa after a short lay off, as the club take on Kirinya Jinja SS in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter at Kitende.

The Centre back has missed the club’s last two games – Mbarara and URA FC – due to a rib injury.

Lwaliwa’s return makes him the best candidate, ahead of Henry Katongole who got his debut recently, to partner Livingston ‘C4’ Mulondo in the centre of defence.

The club has confirmed that Bashir Asiku will continue to miss out as he recovers from an ankle injury. Tito Okello is well after shaking off a knock he picked in the 1-1 draw against Mbarara City.

Vipers will go all out to get maximum points in a bid to close the gap atop. The Kitende side is six points below leaders KCCA FC who were held in Mbarara to a goalless draw.

The visitors on the other hand, eleventh with 19 points, will start new life following the departure of Coach Charles Ayiekho who resigned from his position recently.

Consequently, Kirinya has appointed Bogere Abbey Kikomeko as the an interim Coach. Bogere, formerly a technical director, holds a CAF B license.

It should be noted that Vipers are still the unbeaten team in the league, but failed to beat Kirinya in the reverse fixture in game that ended two all.
