UPL: Express, Police Seek Resuscitation

Express and Police will be looking to bounce back when they face off in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter at Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

Both sides are winless in their last three league games – Two draws and a loss, reads the record for both teams.

In their last outing, Express suffered a 1-0 loss to Tooro while Police was humiliated by Nyamityobora who won 4-1 at Lugogo.

Express won the reverse fixture 3-1 at Lugogo in the first round – Tony Odur, Ibrahim Kayiwa and Michael Birungi scored one each for Express, while Arthur Kiggundu scored an own goal for Police, in a 3-1 away Victory – The first for Express in the 2018/9 season.

Express FC Ready For Police

Express FC Coach Kefa Kisala will be under pressure to win the club’s first league game in the new year.

However, he has commented that his side is ready for Monday’s duel with Police.

We are very ready and most of our players are fine apart from Eric Kambale, all others are available,” said Kefa Kisala, as quoted by the team’s website.

It’s not an easy game because we both lost our last fixtures it means the competition will be high but at the end of the day we have to make sure we correct the mistakes in the last game to see that we win because it’s needed if we are to do well, we don’t need to lose the game.”

The hosts will be without striker Eric Kambale – He injured his hamstring in Buhinga against Tooro United.

Robben Matovu who has not yet played for Express has recovered, Arthur Kiggundu is expected to reprise his role, and the new signings including Brian Umony and Frank Tumwesigye are expected to play a major role.

Express are ninth on the league log with 21 points, the same tally like tenth placed Police FC.
