UPL: Coach Mwebaze Has Trust In ‘Young and Ambitious’ New Signings


Nyamityobora FC Coach Asaph Mwebaze has said that he has trust in his new players.

The club unveiled eight new signings, which are a combination of youth and fringe players.

The new players are Edgar Mujuni, Damien Nakalema, Peter Mutebi, Denis Otim, Joel Ayoku, John Sserunjogi, Fred Mayindi and James Tongi.

I have trust in these young, committed and ambitious new signings,” Coach Asaph told KratosSports. “These players will play a major role to see us beat the drop because they are hungry to succeed.”

Otim is a goalkeeper who joins the club from Mbarara FC, he is a regular fixture in the Hippos (National U20) team. Mutebi is a recruit from Rushere, Sserunjogi joins from Buganda Regional side Kikyusa Cream.

Nakalema signed from Water FC while Mayindi and Ayoku joins the side from Riverside and Doves All Stars among others.

Nyamityobora are seated right inside the red zone: third from the bottom with nine points after the first round.

Asaph who joined Nyamityobora from Onduparaka FC is tasked to save the club from going back to the Big League in their first season in top flight.

He added that:

We have to change a lot especially in the way we approach games in the technical aspect. We begin our second round with Police and it will be important if we win to give us a sprint off the block.”

After Police FC, Nyamityobora will play Vipers at Kakyekya Stadium on February 5 before facing Mbarara in a crucial regional derby on match day 18.
