Uganda Cup: Villa To Field Strong Team Against Nkambi Coffee

Wednesday, January 16

Nkambi Coffee Vs SC Villa, 4:00 PM
(Masaka Recreation)

SC Villa will field a strong team when they face off with Buganda Regional league side Nkambi Coffee in Masaka, in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32.

Villa Coach Douglas Bamweyana has confirmed the development and spoke about the importance of Villa’s long run in the Cup.

It should be noted that many top flight sides always rest their players in such cup games, especially when they are drawn against minnows.

Bamweyana has confirmed to Kratos that he will not make rotations, and he will be targeting victory: “We take every competition seriously, and we will hence field a strong enough team to get the result we want – to get to the next round.”

“All competitions are very important for us. And we intend to give everything to do well in both,” he added, when asked on what he prefers most between league survival over a good cup run in.

Villa will however miss the services of Mike Sserumaga and Habib Kavuma who are sidelined by sickness, while the match might come a bit early for Edgar Luzige who has not also fully recovered.

To reach this stage, Villa eliminated Lugazi Municipal FC with a commanding 4-1 victory – Bashir Mutanda, Ashraf Mandela, David Owori and Joseph Ssemujju scored a goal each to guide the blues to victory.

The Jogoos have won the Uganda Cup nine times, one below joint record winners Express FC and KCCA FC. Villa last won the Uganda cup in 2014/15 when they rolled over KCCA FC (3-0) in the finals.
