Police FC will be without their target man Juma Balinya when they take on unknown Calvary FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32.

Police FC are already in Yumbe district ahead of the Wednesday tie – the team reached on Tuesday midday and held a light training session.

Balinya, Hassan Gaata Kalega and Simon Mbazira did not make the long trip north due to respective injuries, Kratos has learnt.

Balinya’s absence will be the biggest blow to the team as the forward has scored nine goals in the league including a second half brace as the Peace keepers recovered from down to draw 2-2 with SC Villa at Lugogo.

The former Lweza striker who is one goal shy of the league’s topscorer Bashir Mutanda, was however not on target as Police eliminated Booma FC in the Uganda Cup round of 64.

Paul Willa scored in the 17th minute before Reuben Kimera and Ronald Nyanzi picked braces each as Police gunned down Booma 5-0 in Lugogo.

However, it’s not yet known how much the long trip to Yumbe took out of Abdullah Mubiru’s charges. It should be noted that from Kampala to Yumbe is 526 KM (327 miles) which is an eight and half hour journey by Bus. It should be noted that the team used a ferry from Adjumani to Moyo!

It should be remembered that Police FC were eliminated by SC Vipers last season at this same round (of 32). Milton Karisa, Erisa Ssekisambu and Dan Sserunkuma scored for Da Costa’s side after Norman Ojik had given Police an early lead at Kitende.

Police FC have never lifted a Uganda Cup trophy, their best achievement came in 2002-3 campaign when they lost 3-1 to Express FC in the finals.

Calvary FC

About Calvary FC:
Calvary did not break a sweat to reach at this stage as their round of 64 opponents Kabale Sharp FC failed to honour the trip.

Calvary FC play in the West Nile regional league and the side are on top of the Nile group with 13 points from five games.

Against Police FC, Calvary will rely on Anzuku Saviour who recently scored a brace against second placed Tipsah FC in the team’s 2-1 win on January 12th.
