Barely a fortnight from their last meeting in the Uganda Cup final, Kobs and Heathens have another meeting between themselves as the two blow the lid off the new Nile Stout Premiership season.
In the first-ever floodlit 15s game in Ugandan rugby, defending Champions Hima Cement Heathens start their title defense against nemeses Kobs at Kyadondo this Friday evening at 8pm, in a league that now boasts of fresh sponsorship courtesy of Nile Special newest brand, Nile Special Stout.
It's now OFFICIAL!
The official title for the League is Nile Special Stout Premier League.

Heathens won last season’s melee at Kyadondo but lost their most recent two clashes against Kobs i.e Premiership return leg (courtesy of a Joseph Aredo masterclass) and the Uganda Cup final (courtesy of the Ivan Kirabo late heroics with a conversion) and the hosts will be looking to even the scorecard, with home advantage.
“They say defending a trophy is the hardest thing but we are used to it because we have defended so many trophies. There is a time we defended 5 trophies in a row,” said Heathens Captains Michael Wokorach to the media yesterday.
Team news showed that Michael Wokorach will not be strapping up for Heathens, as he is still nursing injuries from Africa 7s, while Kobs too, will be without starman Adrian Kasito who sustained an injury when the two met in the Uganda Cup final less than a fortnight ago.
Heathens will be without Paul Epillo who has been engulfed by academic responsibilities, and Jordan Bongomin drops from the matchday 23 making way for former Buffaloes utility Innocent Gwoktho, with Paul Masendi also making way for the speedster Kevin Kermundu. Cox Muhigwa starts ahead of Aziz Khanwith veterans Chris Lubanga and Alex Mubiru going to come off the bench.
Kobs will see the return of James Ijongat and Ronald Musajja from the bench while the absence of Adrain Kasito sees Daniel Ortega directly replace him as full-back. Adnan Mutebi slots in to replace Dr Sekatte Paul who is away on work commitments, as Al Hajj Manano throws Philip “Chiggas”Muhoozi to the bench. Blair “Boboney” Ayebazibwe and Norbert Okeny will start from the bench.
