After taking a hiatus last year owing to the unpredictable and turbulent election season, the KRU announced the return of the coveted tournament in August this year.
The tournament returns to Nairobi from the Nyayo and Kasarani Stadiums in the intervening years from 2011 to 2016. Kenya are defending champions of the Safari 7s having defeated Samurai 38-21 in the 2016 final at the Kasarani stadium.
It is however unclear if Uganda will go with an experimental emerging side or unleash the full firepower of the Cranes arsenal.
