Derby day was all smiles for the sea robbers who not only emerged victorious on the pitch but for those that followed the resulting engagements on social media saw Pirates win the banter as well. The points difference between Pirates and the table leaders was trimmed, giving the 2nd placed side the perfect opportunity to get maximum points and increase pressure on the log leaders in this round of games – what better opportunity to do so than at home against one of the league strugglers.
Baron Kasozi has been the leagues most prolific finisher and will be hoping to have more of the same supply that has made him the league’s top try machine as the Pirates’ youthful side hope to make history by being triumphant this season. Ivan Magomu was his usual reliable self pulling the strings and will continue to be vital to the champagne rugby that Pirates play.
Hippos will be visiting Kampala on the back of yet another loss against the Buffaloes, one thing we have learnt however is that the men from Jinja aren’t try shy and will be looking to cause damage to the Pirates who can be fragile when they don’t have possession of the ball. The Hippos mental will be vital to how this game will go – if they are to approach it with a sense of reservation then we could see a cricket score with them on the wrong side of the scoresheet.
