From 13th April, 2018 to 15th April, 2018, the Rugby 7s Cranes will be participating in the Gold Coast edition of the Commonwealth games, thanks to the Africa 7s victory that happened in October 2017 in Kampala over the independence weekend.
In addition to the usual and traditional 16 men’s teams’ competition, this year, women’s 7s will debut with 8 teams.
Uganda qualified as one of four African countries that will participate in rugby, alongside Zambia, Kenya and the HSBC reigning 7s champions, South Africa.
This will be the fourth time the Rugby 7s will be playing rugby at the Commonwealth level having featured in 2006, 2010 and 2014 in Glasgow where two players abandoned the camp and sought political asylum from Wales.
The 7s lads have played 5 matches at each of the games, winning two matches at each of the games and finishing as Bowl Challenge semifinalists at all three times of asking. You could christen that as a habit.
Uganda will be playing Hong Kong champions Fiji, Wales and Sri Lanka.
