In the first of two games this past weekend, Rhinos rediscovered their winning formula after beating Rams 13-00 in their own backyard. A try by the usual suspect Scott Oluoch and conversion by Hillary Ategeka set the Rhinos Rhinos on the way before two penalties sealed their second win of the season. This win propels Rhinos to 8 points and into sixth place above Mongers, with the latter having a game in hand.
“It was scrappy and 50-50 most of the time. Rams are a very improved team and they gave us a run for our many. Thankfully with our experience, the back line and forwards came through for us and we managed to win,” said James Ssenoga according to Rhinos social media platform Facebook.
Across the River Nile in Jinja at the Abel Dhaira Memorial Stadium, the home team Walukuba Barbarians reigned supreme beating their cross town rivals Jinja Hippos 14-12 to win the Jinja Derby and their first game of the season. This win took the Barbarians a place higher into eighth while sending down the Rams to ninth after their loss to Rhinos. Despite losing, the Hippos picked their first point of the season, a losing bonus point.
The postponed fixtures of game week 6 will be played after the turn of the new year on 5th January 2019, as the league will be opening way for yet another game week of rugby this coming weekend.
