Defending Premiership champions Black Pirates are hosting Hima Cement Heathens this weekend and are in a race against time to have the gifted full back Timothy Kisiga back in the lineup.
Kisiga sustained a hamstring injury while on national duty in Tunisia, playing for Rugby Cranes in the 2018 edition of the Africa 7s mid-October. Following those proceedings, he missed out on the Pirates Uganda Cup semifinal game against Buffaloes but returned prematurely for the finale against eventual champions, Betway Kobs. After that final, Kisiga has gone on to miss two Pirates games in the Premiership i.e. Barbarians on opening day and Rhinos a week later.
“Tim is still in the hands of the medical team, who are yet to pass him fit for the game. He is definitely a talented player, and the kind who is dependable, and consistent. And those are the qualities you need when facing an experienced team that has won the championship (Heathens) before,” said Coach Robert Musinguzi of the Pirates.
“I will be back to play when I am really healed. I do not want to risk anything by playing on painkillers,” said a relaxed Kisiga.
Black Pirates will be hosting second-on-the-table Heathens this weekend, a side they beat home and away last season.
