Week 6 of the Uganda Rugby Premiership saw a few fixtures postponed into the new year and this weekend, there are three games pitting Mongers against Heathens, Buffaloes against Kobs as unbeaten Warriors welcome Pirates to complete the equation of game week 6.
Hima Cement Heathens Vs Plascon Mongers
Still riding on the unbeaten horse, 2017 champions Hima Cement Heathens welcome Entebbe’s Plascon Mongers for their debt of a fixture this weekend. After six games, Heathens sit above everybody else on the log with 28 points from 6 games while Mongers are with two wins, and four losses. After a disappointing 2017-2018 campaign, the Kyadondo side will hope to take care of business against Mongers and keep themselves ahead of the chasing park.
Often blow hot and cold, it is difficult to with which gusto the Mongers will turn up this weekend. After amassing more losses than wins, the Entebbe side are desperate to stamp their mark on this season, or risk sticking with the mid-table team tag.
Betway Kobs Vs Toyota Buffaloes
The 2018 Uganda Cup Champions Betway Kobs made an emphatic statement in the last game of 2018 when they went to Black Pirates backyard in Bweyogerere and left with the win. With Davis Kiwalabye and Adrian Kasito set to return this weekend, Kobs will be firing on more than all cylinders, given that even their younger and less experienced lads took down Pirates with simplicity.
After the opening day defeat to Heathens, Buffaloes woke themselves up and won four games in a row before Warriors put a stop to that run in their last game of 2018. They have a tougher test when they come up against Kobs and they will need all the tactics in their arsenal. Kickers are always key when playing Kobs and the cover Seguya Wilfred provides for Alul Stephen and Aziz Karim.
DusuPay Warriors vs Black Pirates
Without coach Ivan Makmot and seven first team players, Warriors put Buffaloes to the sword and remained unbeaten as the Ugandan Rugby Premiership closed off 2018. The above mentioned surely return this weekend as the Warriors play their toughest game yet. It is a test they should be ready for, regardless. They have shown resilience along the way, notably the comeback against Mongers in Entebbe. The return of Ivan Makmot and players like Daniel Buule and Muhoozi will provide a major boost in the camp.
Pirates are basically a shadow of themselves from last season. This time last season, Pirates were 6 points better off and in second place, with only one loss, a boardroom decision that saw them hand Mongers a walkover. They find themselves 10 points behind leaders Heathens, with no more room for slip-ups. The 2018 champions will have to dig deeper than usual to get a result against Warriors that doesn’t seem fall any further below Heathens and their opponents this weekend, Warriors.
