The Shujaa squad to represent Kenya in the upcoming Rugby Sevens World Cup has been announced and will be captained by Homeboyz pillar, Oscar Ayodi.

Record try scorer Collins Injera, returns for his second world cup alongside Eden Agero, Andrew Amonde and Willy Ambaka who were part of the Shujaa in Moscow in 2013. This will be Collins Injera’s third Rugby 7s World Cup as he was part of the 2009 team, as with the 2013 team. He played in 2009 alongside now coach, Innocent Simiyu.

“We have a very strong squad based on training. The guys have really trained hard and we believe we have selected the best team that can represent the country. We’re looking for good performances from the players and hopefully we can get some good results,” said head coach Innocent Simiyu as he addressed the media.

Kenya will play Tonga in the pre-round of 16 to determine who will take on Scotland in the round of 16.

On the last Rugby Sevens World Cup outing, Kenya made it to the semifinals of the main cup, losing 12-05 to England, and again to Fiji, 29-05, in the third place decider.
