Onyango At Receiving End As AmaZulu End Sundowns Unbeaten Run

Mamelodi 0-2 AmaZulu

Uganda’s captain Denis Masinde Onyango conceded twice as his side Mamelodi Sundowns suffered a huge blow in ABSA Premiership.

Sundowns, coming into the game on the back of a Nedbank Cup exit on the weekend, suffered a 2-0 loss to AmaZulu in a league game played at Loftus Versfeld.

Despite making several saves on the day, the reigning Africa’s best goalkeeper could not keep out Tebogo Langerman’s own goal and Ovidy Karuru’s header.

This was the first loss for Pitso Mosimane’s side in the league this side. They are now seated in third place with 31 points – 8 wins and seven draws – three points below leaders Bidvest Wits.

Mamelodi had also not lost a league game since January 13, 2018 when they fell 1-3 to Orlando Pirates at home, a record of 28 games.

This was the first time since the Pirates loss, that Onyango had conceded more than one goal at home in the league.

Next for Onyango and Sundowns is a CAF Champions League game against ASEC Memosa on Saturday before facing Black Leopards on February 20, both games at home.
