Ndejje and Kampala clash in a University derby

Ndejje University and Kampala University clash this Wednesday in all-University derby at the Lugogo MTN Arena with two looking to recover from losses in their previous games.

In the first round, the Ndejje and Kampala University derby ended 80-63 in favor of the former. The two teams shared the quarter wins (2-apiece) where Kampala University Eagles led the first quarter 14-12 but a humongous 2nd quarter from Ndejje Angels saw them score 25-10, to pull the game away from the Eagles, despite falling behind 23-20 in the third quarter, but going on to take the fourth 23-16, to spur them to a 80-63 win.

The back court of Innocent Ochera and Gauthier Baderha combined for 41 points in that game for the Angels, while Ahmed Kassa and Patrick Seduge each had 20 points for Kampala University as high scorers for either teams.

After winning the first 6 games, Ndejje University Angels went on a 6 game losing streak with their latest loss coming against Pemba Warriors, where they lost 72-41. Despite proving a hard nut in first two quarters which ended 14-12 and 16-14 respectively in Warriors favor, the latter turned up the hear and blew the game through the roof with a monster 27-04 third quarter and sealed it with 15-11 in the last quarter to win 72-41.

Just like the Ndejje Angels, Kampala University Eagles are on a losing streak of 5 games with their last win, 60-55, coming against Our Savior on 22nd May 2019. Their last NBL outing resulted in a loss at the hands of another promoted side like themselves, 6 time champions Falcons. The Eagles took the first and third quarters 19-14 and 25-17 but strong second fourth quarters from Falcons saw them win 30-14 and 20-16 to lead them to a 81-74 win.
