Namilyango College start title defense against Budo

The schools rugby calendar resumes this Sunday, and the record and reigning champions, Namilyango College will open their title defense against old foes, Kings College Budo.

Namilyango College are in Group A alongside Kings College Budo and London College, while Group B is headlined by St Mart’s College, Kisubi, Turkish Light Academy and last year’s finalists, Makerere College School.

There will be two games every weekend, i.e one game in every group and as Namilyango College will be hosting Kings College Budo, St Mary’s College Kiubi will be at the Graveyard in Makerere, visiting the stubborn Makerere College School.

Namilyango College claimed the 2018 trophy after defeating Makerere College School 5-3 in the finale. After a scoreless first half, full back Arinitwe Hakeem finished off his own kick-and-chase to score in the corner, while MACOS only managed a penalty in the game. Namilyango College had earlier won the U17 catergory 11-00 against arch-nemeses St Mary’s College Kisubi, while the Smackists had claimed the U15 category after beating Kings College Budo 3-0.

Namilyango College will be out looking to add to their hefty collection which has over 10 schools league trophies, while SMACK will be looking to add to their two, and MACOS their second. Budo is the closest competitor to Namilyango College with 6 trophies, and they will want to make it 7.

On the first weekend (17th February 2019) Namilyango College Vs Kings College Budo will be broadcast LIVE ON
