Namilyango College are 2019 Schools 7s Champions

Namilyango College were crowned 2019 Schools 7s Champions at the fourth and last Sevens edition hosted at Legends last Saturday.

Going into the Legends edition, Namilyango College’s first team (Anchors) were three points ahead of chasing Hana International, with the rest of the pack so behind in the pecking order. It is alleged that after Hana International saw the points difference between them and Namilyango College, and given the fact that they had faced off in all finals of the 2019 Schools 7s, they opted not to show face handing Namilyango College’s Anchors an easy road to being the 2019 Schools 7s Champions.

Namilyango’s Anchors and Tigons met in the final to little amusement from a rather disperse-crowd, and the latter to the game to the seniors aiming for an upset only for the Anchors to sneak in a late try to win 21-17.

“It has been our aim to get some silverware for the College this year to reward the support the school has given us and I hope all associated with Namilyango will accept this victory from us,” said Namilyango College’s captain Gavin Mutara.
