In the previous editions of the Masaza cup tournament, teams were grouped basing on geographical location of the counties. This is not the case in the 2018 edition where the organising committee decided to alter a few things.
U17 national team players shall be eligible to play unlike in previous editions although those who have been summoned to the u20, u23, national team and those with licences in the FUFA big league shall not be eligible to participate.
In addition, if any player gets two yellow cards in consecutive games, they shall be forced to sit out one game. As well, no player shall be allowed to play in the Masaza cup tournament for over five years.
This was clarified by the chairperson of the organising committee, Sulaiman Ssejjengo in a meeting held on Wednesday 28th February 2018 at the headquarters of Buganda kingdom found in Mengo.
“We are aiming for all teams to move across Buganda kingdom as we were requested” said the organising Chairperson Ssejjengo.
Gomba is the record champion of the tournament with four titles, the first was won it in 2004, followed by 2009, 2014 and are the defending champions of the 2017 edition.
