Despite a spirited fight from the Walukuba Barbarians last weekend, Buffaloes were able to leave eastern Uganda with a win albeit no bonus point for that matter. This weekend, the freshly kitted Toyota Buffaloes host rank number one in the league; Betway Kobs.
Kobs had a scare of their lives when they hosted Plascon Mongers at Legends seven days ago in a game that they had to edge at death after an enormous show from the Entebbe side that left everyone wondering where that kind of Mongers has been all season.
If history is anything to go by, Kobs will have learnt their lesson very well and will want to quickly dispatch of the Buffaloes who will undoubtedly be a stubborn outfit due to the fact that they are playing at home and will want to do their big brothers, Heathens, a big favour.
Coach Mudoola rested Joseph Aredo and relegated the mercurial Faraji Odugo to the bench in a rotational policy that nearly backfired. Keeping factors constant, both players should be reclaiming their starting places this weekend along with Justin Kimono who we await to know whether he has recovered from an injury he got two weeks ago.
The Buffaloes have found their footing along the way and will channel the energy from the Mongers display to have their own go at the Blue army. First thing the Buffaloes will be aware of is the physicality and effectiveness of the Kobs forwards which means that they have to employ a more unorthodox kind of game to ensure that the bigger bulkier Kobs players are less effective.
For that to be executed, Innocent Gwoktho whose name can’t be missed when Buffaloes is mentioned along with Stephen Alul, Odhiambo and Ucu Romano should be in the right mindset to show up to the party and make the Kyadondo side tick.
The game plans to be employed by either team involve no mystery, neither do they have any underlying trickery implying that both sides will know what to expect but whichever side can quell the strengths of the other while imposing their own style will definitely have the upper hand.
An upset is a probability but one of very low chances, nonetheless we await to see what the coaches; Lemerigar and Mudoola, have to in store in this game of chess that is rugby.
