Kamukama Kenneth was the star of the evening as he spurred on Light Academy to come from behind and defeat Makerere College School (MACOS) 10-05 in Lweza.
Light Academy scored two tries for Light Academy after center Ulaye Kevin had earlier on put the Macosians in the lead.
The two played out a scoreless first half majorly highlighted by kicks exchanged between Light Academy’s Muhaise Hamza and Bakhit, and MACOS’s Kikule Shwan and Kabogoza Brian.
After the break, both teams returned with more intent showing the results of the team talk and the visiting MACOS team were the first to get on the score board after outside center Ulaye Kevin found himself unmarked out wide to run the over lap and score the game’s first try. Kikule Shawn missed the resulting conversion. Light Academy paid them back in the same spirit when Kamukama Kenneth made an eighth man pick off a scrum in the MACOS team 22 and found space on the blindside to score in the corner. Just like Kikule, Muhaise missed the resulting conversion and the game was locked at 5-all.
As the game wound down, it was Kamukama Kenneth who pounced on a loose ball in the Light Academy half, making a run for it, and fended off MACOS’s Kabogoza Brian and Okwalinga Paul to score Light Academy’s second, and ultimately winning try. Light Academy won 10-05 at full time, and Kamukama Kenneth was named Britam Insurance Man Of The Match, and awarded a rugby ball, and a new pair of boots.
Light Academy had earlier on won the U15 category game 10-05 before losing the U17 category game 10-00 to MACOS.
“Just like I promised last week, we worked on our errors and the results have shown this week,” said an ecstatic Samir Din, skipper of Light Academy.
