Jane Asinde who had signed on with JKL Dolphins on a 4 year contract to play as a student athlete will move to Texas’ Grayson College where she will continue with her studies studying Business Administration for two years.
Jane Asinde is one of the most promising prospects in Ugandan basketball and her name had become very close to the lips of many fans as she had been putting together great performances for the JKL Dolphins side in Uganda Womens National Basketball League.
The young player will continue with her basketball career while in Texas playing for the Dallas Wings another remarkable basketball outfit in the US.
Jane is very happy, excited and looking forward to the new challenge that now presents it’s self for her both in terms of Academics and sports/basketball.
According to JKL Dolphins in their statement “With her education having been a key aspect for both parties ahead of her signing with us on a 4-year contract as a student athlete, it gives us great joy that she trusted us and gave us a chance to show her what our organization is all about, and that we shall be here when she is done with this phase of her life and career for the greater good.”
Jane Asinde played all 9 games for the JKL Dolphins lady team this season where she managed to scoop player of the match 3 times and got nominated for the Tusker Lite player of the Month of April alongside team mate and eventual winner Jamila Nansikombi.
Asinde amassed 139 points, 76 rebounds, 16 assists and 11 steals for the Dolphins and she will be happy to know that she now leaves the club in a good place and that with the current crop of players, the title is well in sight.
The JKL Dolphins have already started preparations to find a suitable replacement for Asinde who will be departing very soon for Texas.
We wish her all the best while in the US and hope that she will come back to entertain us even more after her two year spell in Texas.
