KCCA FC will on Sunday embark on a mission impossible as they look to overturn a 3-0 deficit against Congo Brazzaville’s AS Otoho in CAF Confederation Cup playoff round.

The club will need to at least win by four unanswered goals, or match the scoreline in Congo (to force extra time), to reach the continental group stages.

If it comes to pass, the comeback will rank among the best, Ugandan football and Africa in general, ever witnessed.

Strangely, KCCA FC coach Mike Hillary Mutebi believes that his side has 60% chances to go through, banking on the team’s confidence, armoury and experience.

We have the capacity to correct the errors and my players have the belief to overturn the result,” started Mutebi who was speaking at a press conference at Lugogo.

These players have gathered enough experience and know how to negotiate such ties, and its achieveable.

We believe that we can do it, we can better those (3) goals.”

Mutebi Reveals The Plan

Mutebi noted that if heĀ  lead the first half by a goal, his target of three more goals will be within reach.

KCCA FC gaffer Mike Mutebi believes his side can overturn the deficit.

He explained that Otoho are a physical and reckless side in duels, and it’s this, that they plan to capitalise from.

I saw them play in Congo and I noticed how reckless they are in tackles, it will be the work of the Referee to protect my good players in such situations and we will also have to punish them in such set pieces obtained.”

Mutebi, reflecting on what happened in Congo, said that nothing was special against Otoho, as the Congolese side didn’t ask many questions beside scoring the three goals.

Leading by example

He added that he cannot blame the referee on that day, but affirmed that many calls did not go their way.

We didn’t cause them enough problems, we started a little bit slow, we were away from home.

They will come to play in a measured manner, they will want to sit back and get us on the break but are prepared to open them up.
