Henry Nsekuye was the man for the plaudits as Super 10 side, Impis reached the Uganda Cup shield final, after a cagey semifinal against university nemeses, Kyambogo.
Impis beat Kyambogo 13-12 by full-time whistle’s time with Henry Nsekuye scoring all thirteen points for Impis, pushing them to the Uganda Cup Shield Final.
Kyambogo led the game early on through two Kevin Makmot penalties but Henry pulled Impis within reach with a penalty. Impis put the pressure and could have managed a score before the break after choosing to go to the scrum three times in a row when ref Gonzalo awarded them penalties, but Kyambog’s defense stood tight.
Impis were back hunting for glory after the break and the pressure finally took its toll on Kyambogo with Hbery feeding off a very bullish maul to score the game’s only try. He converted it to make a perfect score and give Impis a 10-06 lead. Henry added another penalty for Impis, while Kevin added two for Kyambogo on top of missing two, and Henry would be the hero at full time with the score favoring Impis 13-12.
Impis lost the Shield finale to Hippos in 2018 and will be in an even tougher time now as they will come up against MRI Rams in the finals this time around, after the latter beat Sailors 10-03 in the second Shield semi-final held at the Graveyard in Makerere.
