Kyadondo is one of the rugby communities that has had so much change in the last two months in regards to transfers. There have been mixed feelings on what could be termed as uprooting of players from sister side Buffaloes whose players were all “promoted” to Heathens in a bid to make a “super team” as I would call it.
Back to business nonetheless, Uganda Cup 2018 is underway in less than 24 hours and Heathens will be making the short trip to Kyambogo for their first round encounter.
The Heathens forwards pack gives the feeling of a new aggressive and vibrant look with national team second rows Simon Olet “Diego” and Charles Uhuru starting at 4 and 5 respectively. Cox Muhigwa returns from injury to slot into blind side flank while Romano Ogwal will lead the forwards from the base at eighth man.
More changes appear in the backs with Kevin Kermundu getting his debut at scrumhalf whereas Simon Okwera retains the number ten shirt condemning new recruit Robert Masendi to the bench. The back line sees more debuts with Paul Masendi starting on the wing alongside Gerald “Kasooto” Ssewankambo and Jordan Bongomin who form a new look midfield in the absence of senior Michael Wokorach.
Veteran Alex Mubiru returns to active play on the bench along with Warriors prodigal son Emma Byamugisha featuring on the bench as prop cover. Faisal Gamma provides cover for the backs in case the youngsters need some guidance and maturity in the fold.
