Godwin Kayangwe Arinitwe aka Tonchu has been elected the new Uganda Rugby Union President at the stakeholder annual general meeting held at Nob View Hotel in Ntinda.
Godwin Kayangwe won the seat of President after beating rival Ivan Ssemuwemba in a ballot, garnering 44 votes against Ivan’s 9 votes.
Godwin willa scend from the position of Secretary where he has served for the past six years, and will be replaced by Peter Odong. Peter beat 3 others winning three others to get to the office.
Kyadondo nominated Dorothy Nekesa beat USRA Chairperson Valance Bizimana to the seat of Age Grade and development with 30 votes against the latter’s 20.
“Thank you for trusting me with the office of president,” said an elated Godwin Kayangwe.
“I promise to work hard for rugby and take it to even greater heights. To my outgoing colleagues, thank you and well done.”
All positions went to the ballot except VP Commercial and Women’s Rep who have unopposed candidates i.e Peter Magona and Regina Lunyolo respectively.

NB: There were 53 voting delegates but some were ruled invalid during the electoral process.
