Geoffrey Kimani, a level 4 certified coach with World Rugby, returns to the Uganda Sevens technical bench as the strength and conditioning coach.
An ardent fan and user of social media, the former Kenya Sevens S&C took to twitter to announce his next step. “New turf…honoured once again in returning to Uganda in the capacity of S&C
@UgandaSevens for the qualification process of the 2019/2020 @WorldRugby7s …always grateful to the almighty and Family… #FlyMen,” the tweet read.
Geoffrey Kimani has served in the Kenya Sevens setup in two tenures i.e. he was S&C when Kenya claimed the Singapore 7s in 2016, was briefly replaced by Ian Gibbons who resigned after three months. He returned to the system at the start of the 2017-2018 calendar and announced the end of his journey with Kenya Sevens on 31 October, 2018. That announcement was met with shock given that he had just been re-appointed S&C Coach a few weeks earlier under new Kenya 7s coach, Paul “Pau” Murunga.
Geoffrey Kimani has been with the Uganda 7s before, notably taking the team to Hong Kong for the qualifiers in 2017, only for the team to lose at the semi-finals.
