Express FC: Kisala Reflects On New Signings

 

Express FC unveiled five new additions to beef up their squad ahead of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League second round.

Brian Umony joined the club on a six month loan, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye is on loan from Vipers,
Sadiq Ssekyembe joins from Katwe, Ivan Ocholit and Goffin Oyirwoth have been recruited from Wembley and Buddo SS respectively.

We needed some new energy,” started Coach Kefa Kisala during the unveiling at Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku. “We had some free slots in the squad and there was also need to fill the void left by some of the players that we had lost.”

Express FC lost Nasir Mbabali who returned to Vipers after his loan deal ended, and Julius Ntambi saw his contract terminated recently.

Kefa when asked to clarify on the fact that the new additions are a blend of budding stars and tried and tested stalwarts, he explained:

We are focussing on both today and future, this is a mix of youth and experience.

There are three types of players: match winner, Influencer and someone who can give rhythm to the team.”

Express FC finished the first round in seventh place on the 16 team log after winning five of the 15 games. They lost four games and were held on six different occasions.

Express FC have 21 points and sit below URA, BUL, Onduparaka, Mbarara, Vipers and KCCA FC. The side has scored 17 and conceded 16.

Express FC will start their second round campaign with a trip to face Tooro United in Fort Portal at Buhinga Stadium.
