The Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom, Owekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga has been confirmed as the chief guest for this year’s Coronation themed 7s series to be hosted by Shell Rimula Rhinos and Legends Rugby Club.

The series hosted by the Rhinos this year was added with the special flavor of being among the games to curtain-raise the celebration of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s silver jubilee on the throne. The Kabaka will be represented by his and Buganda’s Prime Minister, the katikkiro, Owekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga. Among other games to commemorate the silver jubilee is a golf tournament which is going to be used as a front to sensitize Buganda’s youth about sickle cell disease.

Speaking during the launch of series at Legends on Wednesday, Omulangira David Wasajja, accompanied by Buganda Sport’s minister, iterated the Kingdom’s love for sports and using it to open doors for youth.

“Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and the kingdom is desirous to see this sport develop in Uganda. Because of it’s resources, the kingdom is committing to the development of this sport in Uganda,” said Prince Wasajja.
