Jinja based women’ team Black Pearls were crowned champions at the last 7s circuit at Kyadondo on 1st September 2018 scoring 10 tries at the tournament.
Black Pearls beat the three women teams winning 17-05 against Thunderbirds, 21-00 against Entebbe Ladies , 22-00 against Black Panthers dominating the floodlights 7s.
Black Pearls speed star Grace Auma scored 2 tries and 1try was converted by Emily Lekuru who also scored a try and Proscovia Ayero scoring the closing try which increased their team win against Black Panthers 22-00.
Black Pearls played with determination to win their second game against Entebbe Ladies were they passed the ball left to right eventually gaps opening for them to score 3 tries. Agenorwot Flavia and Mufuwa Mercy scored 1 try each. Emily Lekuru scored 1 try and a conversion whereas left footed Grace Auma converted 2 tries leaving no room for Entebbe Ladies to score.
Grace Auma was unstoppable in their game against their rival team Thunderbirds using her speed to score 2 tries and 1 conversion. Emily Lekuru unleashed her powerful runs and handoffs from their half to touch down. Meanwhile Thunderbirds Oliver Achiro saved her team’s dignity by putting a try on the scoreboard.
Kitaka 7s champions Entebbe Ladies failed to defend their crown at the Floodlights 7s where they lost all their 3 games to go for the 4th place leaving the 3rd place for Black Panthers who lost 2 games and won 1, which gave room for Thunderbirds opportunity to come 2rd after winning 2 games and lost 1.
Emily Lekuru from Black Pearls was MVP of the floodlights 7s after here powerful runs and handoffs from their half to touch down.
