Basketball: Jane Asinde Becomes JKL Lady Dolphins Third Signing

JKL Lady Dolphins has on Friday confirmed the acquisition of 18 year old Jane Asinde from Magic Stormers.

Asinde becomes the third signing of the reigning Women National Basketball Champions – The club signed Maureen Atulinda from KIU Rangers and Brenda Nakitende from A1 Challenge.

Asinde who completed her high school studies with Buddo SS joins JKL as a student athlete on a 4 year contract, with an option to join college once the opportunity arises.

Asinde, as quoted by the club, said: “Am excited to be joining JKL, school is very important aspect for me and having that as a key component of discussion, along with career progression a x personal branding, it became very easy to make easy to make the decision.”

It should be noted that Asinde made the 3*3 team that represented Uganda at last year’s U23 nations league in Mongolia.

Asinde was the MVP as she helped Buddo SS to win the Basketball trophy at the 2018 East Africa Games where they beat up on St Mary’s Kitende in the finals.

She scooped 192 points and 143 rebounds last season but it proved not enough for Magic Stormers who finished at the bottom of the log. Her 52 offensive rebounds was only bettered by UCU’s Rose Ekon.
