The world’s number one side released their team for round two of the Rugby championship/ Bledisloe cup yesterday following last week’s whitewash of the Wallabies in Sydney – they host the same side at Eden park tomorrow with a chance to go two for two this year against their Trans Tasman neighbours.
Steve Hansen has handed Hurricanes’ Jordie Barrett and Ngani Laumape starting places for the second test against Australia, the inclusions come as a matter of injuries to Rieko Ioane (hamstring) and inside centre Ryan Crotty (concussion) during the 38-13 humbling of the Wallabies.
The “old skool” Hansen opted to go with the fresh talent of Jordie Barrett over the experienced Nehe Milner Skudder while veteran Ben Smith moves to the right wing. Waisake Naholo keeps his place albeit shifting to the left side – creating the oldest combined wing pairing in All Blacks Test history.
Whereas the rest of the team remains untampered with, prop Owen Frank’s faces quite a conundrum on his hands having played 99 tests without scoring for the Black outfit – he gets another chance at Eden Park tomorrow on what is a monumental occasion for the tighthead and surely his teammates will be out to gift him with a try on reaching a century of caps for the All Blacks.
