The Lion Cubs of Algeria hammered Zambia 31-00 at the Leopards Cage in Mufulira, Zambia this past weekend and secured Gold Cup status for at least one year.
The Algerians scored four tries through Mathieu Loree, Frederic Medves, Jonathan Best and Walid Batchali which were fully complemented in terms of conversions with Johan Bensalla (3) and Enzo Kralfa in Zambian mining town Mufulira. Johan Bensalla also managed to slot in penalty while at it to accumulate 11 points in the game.
Algeria, unranked by World Rugby, will join the Gold Cup regulars and African powerhouses, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Tunisia and holders, Namibia.
The Africa Silver Cup is split in two; with Algeria, Senegal and Ivory Coast making up the Silver Cup North group as Botswana, Zambia and Madagascar made up Silver Cup South group. The South group played their games in Mufulura, Zambia while the North Group played all their games in Toulouse, France. Games on either side were played between 8-14 July.
